Cuisinart CSB-75BC Smart Stick 2-Speed Immersion Hand Blender, Brushed Chrome

I bought this to replace my previous version and I love it. It’s a little shorter and lighter, and having 2 speeds is wonderful. I know there are concerns raised about how the shaft fittings are plastic but I had my other one for about 4 years without a problem. As soon as I saw it was plastic, I took special care when I attached the 2 pieces together. I never forced it, if it didn’t seem right, I repositioned the shaft and found the position where it went in easily. This new version has a more distinct feel when it is positioned correctly.

I wanted to make a butternut squash soup and the recipe called for putting the cooked squash into a blender a little at a time. I decided to spare myself the operation being tedious and decided to order one of these so I could dump all the ingredients into a large pot and blend it that way. Took only a few minutes to puree a fairly good size pot of soup. I was impressed considering the blade is pretty small. Haven't used it yet for smoothies, but if it can puree soups well, I am more than sure it would be great with fruit/vegetable drinks. Comes with a measuring cup for doing so if you wish to use it. Just make sure the blending piece is under the liquid if you don't want to have a mess everywhere.
